Phenomenological cosmology in the Planck era
About the role
The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA’s missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology.
Responsibilities
The candidate will aim at addressing salient issues in cosmology with novel theoretical insights, observational probes, data analysis methods, or measurements. The NPP post-doctoral scholar will conduct independent research relevant to current and future potential NASA missions such as SPHEREx, the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, and Euclid, and articulate their scientific synergies with ongoing ground-based efforts such as the Vera C. Rubin Observatory, the Simons Observatory, or CMB-S4.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree in a relevant field
- Research proposal
- Three letters of recommendation
- Official doctoral transcript documents
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in astrophysics, cosmology, and related fields. They should also demonstrate a clear understanding of the latest developments in these areas and the ability to contribute to ongoing NASA research projects.
Skills
Strong analytical skills, proficiency in data analysis, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are essential. Experience with cosmological models and observational data is preferred.
Benefits
The program provides a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement savings plans, and professional development opportunities.
Pay
The salary range for the NPP post-doctoral scholar is $70,000 to $100,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
Schedule
