PhD Student Positions in Water Digital Twins
About the role
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is seeking two PhD students to work on the development and applications of water digital twins in the Water and Environmental Systems Analysis Lab (WESA).
Responsibilities
- Focus on the digital twins of regional water resources systems, addressing interbasin water transfer, ensemble-based hydrologic modeling, forecast-informed reservoir operations, and environmental flow management.
- Focus on the integrated digital twins of multiple urban water infrastructures in coastal regions, including stormwater drainage, rainwater harvesting, and wastewater reclamation systems.
Requirements
- A master’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with the configuration and calibration of HEC-HMS or similar models.
- For Position #1: Experience with ensemble-based precipitation or streamflow modeling; Experience with remote sensing for surface water, evapotranspiration, or soil moisture; Experience with the development of WebGIS portals using ArcGIS Online or Mapbox.
- For Position #2: Experience with the configuration and calibration of SWMM or similar models.
- For Position #2: Experience in environmental or hydrologic fieldwork; Experience with the analysis and modeling of socio-environmental systems; Experience with the development of WebGIS portals using ArcGIS Online or Mapbox.
