Responsibilities
- Set up and calibrate nondestructive testing equipment.
- Able to perform Ultrasonic inspection of pressure members in accordance with current editions of ASME standards such as Section I, Section V, Section VIII, B31.1, B31.3.
- Conduct tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDT methods of inspection.
- Establish techniques for proper examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations.
- Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results.
- Organize and report test results.
- Perform specialized inspections.
- Supervise and instruct other technicians when necessary.
- Able to handle other methods of inspection such as MT & PT in either a laboratory or field setting.
- Perform Level II UT Shear wave responsibilities.
- Classify flaws, size flaws and the ability to plot and locate flaws.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Current certifications in UT and PAUT methods.
- Familiar with applicable welding codes, i.e. ASME.
- Preferred to hold additional NDE certifications in MT, PT and RT.
- Knowledgeable with OSHA’s General and Construction safety industries.
- Able to pass Background check and Company drug/alcohol testing, Fit for Duty testing, Ergonomic testing, and a motor vehicle check.
Qualifications
- SNT-TC-1A/ACCP Level II MT, PT, UT Certifications, or Documented field hours and classroom education that meets or exceeds SNT-TC-1A certification requirements for methods of MT, PT, UT & RT.
- Previously certified in Time-of-Flight Diffraction.
- Proficient with ES Beam Tool.
- Proficient with Raster, manual, semi-automated and automated PA scanning techniques.
