What You’ll Do
- Enter patient data in the system, including patient name, insurance, allergies, doctor, and diagnosis.
- Enter the prescription in the system, selecting the brand, product/drug, and appropriate strength to align with the instructions given by the prescribing Provider.
- Fill or dispense the product from the pharmacy stock and deliver to the patient.
- Process prescription refills, verifying refill availability.
- Maintain awareness of stock level and enter orders for restocking based on defined minimum inventory levels.
- Verify quantity and submit order to the Wholesaler.
- Verify product orders received with the invoice and purchase order.
- Place a sticker on each item and place it on the shelf.
- Monitor and check expiration dates on drugs in stock and prepare expired stock for return to the Wholesaler.
- Process credit invoices associated with the returns.
- Return or discard dispensed prescriptions to stock if not picked up by the patient in 30 days.
- Enter information in the system for reverse billing.
- Complete the third-party billing form and contact the Provider if prior authorization is required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Perform clinical responsibilities in alignment with The Joint Commission (TJC), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and YVFWC requirements.
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
- One year's experience in a pharmacy setting is preferred
- Pharmacy Technician license for Washington State or Pharmacy Intern License
- Bilingual English/ Spanish preferred at a level 9
- Effective verbal and listening communication skills with a customer-oriented approach
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to perform administrative tasks such as answering phones, filing, faxing, scanning, and copying
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to organize work while performing multiple tasks requiring attention to detail
- Basic proficiency with a variety of computer systems, including Microsoft Office
- Basic knowledge of a minimum of one pharmacy software system and the ability to learn new systems
