Pharmacy Technician (PRN)
About the role
The Pharmacy Technician (PRN) will process and fill orders for pharmaceuticals and perform related duties. They provide professional, courteous, and efficient customer service to pharmacy customers and assist our licensed pharmacists in the preparation of medications as directed and in accordance with State and federal pharmacy laws.
Responsibilities
- Completes accurate data entry of patient information including billing / payer information as well as prescriptions into the pharmacy application.
- Preparation of medications for dispensing including non-sterile compounds, unit dose medications, blister / bubble packaging, multi-dose adherence packaging as well as traditional vial dispenses.
- Stocking automated dispensing machines and generating reports to assist with inventory management in the inpatient setting.
- Generates various reports as requested such as statistical pharmacy volume reports, inventory reports, controlled substance usage reports, MedSelect and other various reports as requested.
- Tracks prescriptions needing signature for verbally agented Schedule II medications and reports to Pharmacy Manager when signature is unable to be obtained after 7 days.
- Orders inventory as needed in the absence of the pharmacy purchasing and inventory specialist.
- Manages both physical inventory (outdates, damages, rotating stock, etc.) as well as virtual inventory (reporting, activating / deactivating / creating new drugs, evaluating inventory discrepancies, etc.) within the pharmacy application.
Requirements
- Education and/or Experience: Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Licensure: Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician with the Florida Department of Health, Board of Pharmacy Valid Florida State Driver’s License.
- Continuing education: Meet continuing education requirements as noted by the Florida Department of Health, Board of Pharmacy Division.
- Certifications (i.e. CPR): CPhT (certified pharmacy technician) from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) preferred.
- Intermediate computer skills sufficient to use Windows operating system, Excel, Outlook, perform daily word task.
- Ability to organize, multi-task prioritize daily work.
Qualifications
- Must provide proof of valid automobile insurance, a copy of which will be placed in the employee’s HR file.
- Successful candidates must be willing to work evenings and/or weekends, as needed.
Skills
- Intermediate computer skills sufficient to use Windows operating system, Excel, Outlook, perform daily word task.
