Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship

Responsibilities

• Assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy.
• Processes prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions.
• Registers all related sales on assigned cash register, collects and handles cash as required.
• Supports inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals.
• Assists with administrative tasks like processing manual claims for third-party prescription services.
• Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services, resolving issues, and answering questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Develops strong relationships with most valuable customers.
• May assist with clinical services, including collecting and properly labeling blood/urine samples from patients and coordinating with healthcare providers.
• Maintains the pharmacy's stock, cleanliness, and orderliness, and ensures compliance with company policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Willingness to work flexible schedules, including evenings and weekends.
• Experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Prior work experience with Walgreens preferred.
• Good math and computer skills preferred.
• Prefers the knowledge of store inventory control.
• Prefer PTCB certification.
