Pharmacy Technician, Part-time

About the role

SageWest Health Care is located in Fremont County, Wyoming, encompassing two hospitals, one in Riverton and one in Lander. Each offers a wide range of healthcare services, including inpatient medical services, emergency room services, surgical services, imaging services, laboratory diagnostic services, primary care, infusion services, and women’s health.

This part-time Certified Pharmacy Technician role supports the efficient operation of the pharmacy department by preparing and dispensing medications, managing inventory, and providing guidance to less experienced technicians under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Responsibilities may include handling controlled substances, billing, and precepting new staff.

Responsibilities

• Refills and maintains automated dispensing systems.
• Prepares and fills medication orders, including controlled substances, under pharmacist supervision.
• Supports medication billing, charges, and inventory records.
• Prepares prepackaged and bulk medications with correct labeling.
• Oversees restocking and maintenance of pharmaceuticals in compliance with standards.
• Assists in training and competency assessments of new or junior technicians.
• Participates in quality assurance and process improvement activities.
• Responds to inventory and regulatory documentation requirements.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (including education equivalent to completion of secondary school or demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the role).
• Associate’s Degree in a related healthcare field (preferred).
• 3-5 years of experience as a pharmacy technician (preferred).

Qualifications

• LPT - Licensed Pharmacy Tech: Registration or licensure as a Pharmacy Technician with the applicable State Board of Pharmacy (required where mandated by state law, upon hire).
• PHAR-C - Certified Pharmacy Tech: National pharmacy technician certification from an accredited certifying body (PTCB or NHA) (required upon hire).

• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
