Pharmacy Technician (Part Time)
Job Summary
The Pharmacy Technician works under the direct supervision of staff pharmacists, preparing medications pursuant to physician orders, performing sterile and non-sterile compounding in the Main Pharmacy, repackaging bulk medication in unit dose form, restocking automatic dispensing machines, answering phone calls and troubleshooting questions within the scope of their practice, participating in inventory management activities, conducting regular unit inspections, maintaining appropriate records and documentations, and routinely participating in departmental educational initiatives.
Experience
- Minimum six (6) weeks of Pharmacy externship training or one year of inpatient/outpatient Pharmacy experience.
- Preferred: Two (2) years of inpatient pediatric Pharmacy experience.
Education
- Education Required: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
- Preferred: Associate Degree in Pharmacy Technology.
Training
- Training Required: Graduated from an ASHP accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program and a minimum of 240 hours of externship, or two (2) years of inpatient hospital experience with a state license.
Specialized Skills
- Proficient in English, verbal and written communications skills, and pharmaceutical calculations.
- Must be able to type and accurately perform computer entry.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical compounding (sterile and non-sterile); proficiency in pharmaceutical math calculations; clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Preferred: Familiarity with Automated Dispensing Cabinet use and other IV workflow automation; working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
Licensure
- Licensure Required: California Pharmacy Technician License.
- Preferred: CPhT – Certified Pharmacy Technician; Certified Compounding Sterile Preparation (CSPT).
Pay Range
Pay Range: Minimum $25.46 Midpoint $33.73 Maximum $42.01 Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.
