About the Role
Assists Pharmacists to fill and dispense prescriptions for customers. Provides high-level member service, including assisting customers at the counter, retrieving prescriptions, and processing transactions. Orders and stocks drugs, supplies, and over-the-counter merchandise. Updates patient records and inventory, processes invoices, and makes accounting entries using a computerized system.
Responsibilities
- Assists customers at the counter, receives written prescriptions for Pharmacists, and retrieves filled prescriptions.
- Rings up orders, processes payments (cash, checks, credit/debit), and provides change.
- Assists Pharmacists in updating patient profiles and entering prescription information into the pharmacy computer, to the extent allowable by State law, while preserving patient confidentiality.
- Answers phones and provides prompt, courteous member service, including answering questions at pharmacy windows and directing members to product locations.
- Assists Pharmacists in filling prescriptions by bringing stock bottles, counting, pouring, re-stocking, labeling, and pricing prescriptions under direct supervision.
- Prepares third-party insurance claims, to the extent allowable by State law.
- Processes invoices and makes accounting entries using a computerized system.
- Orders, receives, tags, and stocks prescription drugs and supplies, following product storage procedures and standards.
- Orders, receives, tags, and stocks over-the-counter products in accordance with merchandising plans for the department; creates product signs.
- Maintains department cleanliness by sweeping, mopping, spraying, wiping, dusting, emptying trash, and operating a trash compactor and cardboard baler.
- Follows security and safety procedures, including securing the department by properly storing or disposing of confidential documents and using appropriate disposal methods for immunization supplies and hazardous waste.
- Operates vehicles, equipment, or machinery as required.
- Assists with department duties and in other warehouse departments as necessary.
