About the role

Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Pharmacy Technician to join our team. The position assists the Pharmacist in providing medication and pharmaceutical services to patients, nurses, physicians, and other hospital personnel.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Affords assistance to the Pharmacist in providing medication and pharmaceutical services to patients, nurses, physicians, and other hospital personnel.
  • Doses medications under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Maintains inventory of medications and supplies, and reorders them accordingly.
  • Restocks and maintains automated dispensing machines and anesthesia machines.
  • Processes records of medications dispensed to patients or customers, computes charges, and enters them into the computer system.
  • Prepares, evaluates, and interprets medication usage, including narcotic usage, into applicable reports.
  • Receives and stores incoming deliveries of medication and supplies in appropriate storage conditions.
  • Participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement and CQI activities.
  • Affords assistance to the Pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care for patients ranging in age from newborn to the elderly.
  • Is able to identify and understand that there are dosage variations between newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients and knows to consult with the Pharmacist if any doubts or questions arise.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety, and reduces the likelihood of medical and healthcare errors.

Qualifications

  • Education/Certification: High School graduate or equivalent. Education in all age groups ranging from newborn to geriatric population obtained either in school education, experience, or subsequent training. Graduate of a certified training program/healthcare careers college and/or training equivalent. Must be nationally certified as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) within one year of hire date.
  • Experience: One year of related pharmacy experience and/or education equivalent.
  • Equipment/Technology: Basic computer knowledge, preferably with Excel and Word experience.
  • Language/Communication: Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Additional languages preferred.
  • Mental Capabilities: Must be a motivated critical thinker and problem solver.
  • Interpersonal: Is capable of appropriate and proactive cooperation with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Performance: Works well under pressure, and can meet multiple and sometimes competing deadlines. Can maintain confidentiality.
