About the Role

These roles are responsible for the administration, preparation, dispensing, and management of medications and other health products to ensure safe and effective patient care. Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians work in various settings, including pharmacies, UVA hospitals, clinics, and research facilities. These roles assist pharmacists in the preparation, dispensing, and management of medications and support pharmacy operations by filling prescriptions, maintaining medication inventory, and processing insurance claims. This position represents people leaders with hire/fire authority and majority of time spent overseeing their area of responsibility.

Achieves goals through direct and/or indirect reports, manages/supervises professional-level employees, and focuses on tactical and operational plans with a short to mid-term focus. Develops solutions to moderately complex problems and may escalate more complex issues to higher-level management. Ensures staff is utilized efficiently and daily work projects are completed on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation, dispensing, and management of medications.
  • Support pharmacy operations, including filling prescriptions and maintaining medication inventory.
  • Process insurance claims to ensure smooth pharmacy operations.
  • Manage and supervise professional-level employees within the job area.
  • Develop tactical and operational plans with a short to mid-term focus.
  • Ensure efficient staff utilization and timely completion of daily work projects within budget.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree required; or combination of experience, education, licensure, or certification in lieu of degree.
  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience, including 1+ year of formal management experience.
  • CPhT credential through National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required.
  • Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the Virginia Board of Pharmacy required.

Physical Demands

  • Job requires standing for prolonged periods.
  • Frequent bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive), and repetitive motion (e.g., computer keyboard).
  • Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull less than 20 lbs.
  • May be exposed to chemicals.

Pay

The pay range for this role is $57,907.20 - $104,914.00 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
