Pharmacy Technician Lead
About the role
The Lead Pharmacy Technician is defined as someone who under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, assists in the various activities of the pharmacy department not requiring the professional judgment of the pharmacist. The lead pharmacy technician also has supervisory and other responsibilities, such as Pyxis, Meditech, and Drug Ordering Expertise.
Responsibilities
- Maintain patient records
- Set-up, package and label medication doses
- Fill and dispense routine orders for stock supplies of patient-care areas
- Maintain inventories of drug supplies
- Mix drugs with parenteral fluids
- Physician order entry
- Schedule technicians
- Supervise use of automated drug delivery equipment (Pyxis)
- Maintain quality assurance programs
- Generally oversee the performance of pharmacy technicians
Requirements
- Minimum of five (5) years current hospital pharmacy technician experience required
- Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) preferred
- State Pharmacy Technician License/Registration required (if required by state regulations)
- Proficiency with various computer systems, EHR, ADS, and drug preparation or delivery systems
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of ASHP-accredited or equivalent pharmacy technician training program preferred

- Education: Graduate of ASHP-accredited or equivalent pharmacy technician training program preferred

Pay
The current compensation range for this role is $24.37 to $32.79. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
