Pharmacy Technician, Inpatient Level I - Pharmacy
Job Summary
Under the supervision of a Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician assists by performing certain technical functions associated with drug distribution in accordance with specific provisions, standards, and Pharmacy Business and Professions Code.
About the Role
Dependent upon assignment, the principal areas of drug distribution may include unit dose, intravenous and oral drug compounding, TPN preparation, inventory control, automated dispensing equipment and related duties, as required.
Responsibilities
- Aids in the preparation and distribution of medications
- Assists in the management of inventory and automated dispensing systems
- Performs IV compounding and TPN preparation as needed
- Provides customer service and collaborates with other healthcare professionals
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED or foreign equivalent
- One year of experience as a Registered CA Pharmacy Technician
- Knowledge of medical and pharmacy terminology, metric and apothecary measures
- Knowledge of pharmacy ethics, laws, and accountability and control of prescriptions and controlled drugs
- Experience in a pediatric hospital setting preferred
- Three years of experience preferred
- Experience with automated dispensing machines and barcode technology preferred
Qualifications
Didactic and practical IV compounding experience preferred.
Skills
Knowledge of medical and pharmacy terminology, metric and apothecary measures, pharmacy ethics, laws, and accountability and control of prescriptions and controlled drugs.
Benefits
The current salary range for this position is $30.10 to $41.91. A candidate’s placement in the range will be determined based on the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
