Pharmacy Technician In-Training

About the role

Muskegon Family Care is seeking a FULL-TIME Pharmacy Technician In-training to join their team. The position offers a competitive benefit package including tuition reimbursement up to $1,500 annually, 401K safe harbor contribution, and holidays off paid.

Responsibilities

• Enters prescription orders into QS1 accurately and efficiently.
• Creates and updates patient’s personal profile in EHR including patient demographics, allergy information, and insurance information.
• Counts 25 prescriptions per hour accurately and efficiently.
• Safely and efficiently assists Pharmacist in filling and labeling patient’s prescriptions.
• Updates patient personal and insurance information as needed.
• Ensures patient receives correct prescriptions.
• Answers the phone in a timely manner.
• Communicates with providers and their staff to obtain refill authorization.
• Knowledge of common medication brands and generic names, doses, and indications to patients and staff.
• Collects cash and/or credit for payment of prescriptions.
• Understands medical terminology.
• Respects confidentiality and patient data.
• Maintains a courteous, helpful, and conscientious attitude in dealing with co-workers and patients and their families ensuring professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
• Keeps work area neat and clean.
• Regular and prompt attendance at work.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in PSI's Pharmacy Tech Prep Online Employer-based Training Program.
• Must sign up and take the PTCB exam within 6 months of hire.
• Pass PTCB exam and obtain licensure within 1 year of hire.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Computer and Medical Terminology experience preferred.
