Pharmacy Technician In Training
About the role
The Pharmacy Technician Trainee at CHI St Alexius Bismarck will assist the Pharmacist and licensed Technicians with medication preparation, inventory management, and distribution. They will ensure accurate and compliant pharmaceutical services while preventing medication errors. Key responsibilities include:
- Recording prescription serial numbers and dispensing dates on original orders
- Initiating or accepting verbal/electronic refill authorizations from medical practitioners or agents, documenting all required information
- Typing and affixing prescription labels or entering information into a computer for new/refill prescriptions, with pharmacist verification
- Reconstituting prescription medications and performing retrieval, counting, or pouring of medications, always with pharmacist verification
- Measuring, counting, pouring, and preparing drugs for hospital inpatient dispensing, subject to full pharmacist verification of accuracy and safety
- Performing the prepackaging of drugs
Responsibilities
To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate the ability to apply pharmacy knowledge to identify variances and outliers in clinical practice, adhere to DEA, FDA, and state regulations, and possess the necessary focus for tasks requiring extreme accuracy and attention to detail.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED
- Obtain Pharmacy Assistant license in the state in which the employee works if available or necessary
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent knowledge of drug names, with the expectation of continuing education on new drugs

Pay
The posted compensation range is $18.85 - $25.51 /hour, which is a reasonable estimate based on the circumstances at the time of posting. CommonSpirit Health may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range as permitted by law.
Schedule
The Pharmacy Technician Trainee works a full-time schedule of 80 hours per pay period, with a weekly schedule of 9am-6pm and a shift of Day.
