Position Summary
Affords support to operational and distribution responsibilities pertinent to Pharmacy Technician roles, specifically within the context of Orlando Health software and hardware systems at Scripts Pharmacy and Retail inside the hospital.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates understanding of safety, emergency, and risk management procedures.
- Demonstrates understanding of the hospital mission, personnel policies, philosophy, goals, customer service, and objectives of the Pharmacy and Orlando Health.
- Demonstrates familiarity with the general duties and processes of the Pharmacy department.
- Demonstrates ability to identify and utilize resources and departments for customer service and patient care, based on need, availability, and responsibility of resources.
- Demonstrates ability to operate equipment required for pharmacy procedures, consistent with operating instructions, safety regulations, and policy and procedures.
- Performs basic Pharmacy Technician procedures, adhering to scientific principles, policy, and procedures.
- Performs basic buyer procedures, aligning with departmental principles and Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Accurately assists the Pharmacist in medication distribution, utilizing proper aseptic techniques for admixture of various types of medication (e.g., chemotherapy) and performing tasks/procedures associated with automated dispensing cabinets.
- Maintains USP 797 standards and other regulatory required documentation.
- Maintains safe handling and proper disposal requirements.
- Completes special projects as assigned.
- Participates in the training of new pharmacy technicians if needed.
- Maintains advanced expertise in and actively covers technician services in a specialized practice area (e.g., medication history acquisition), depending on departmental needs.
- Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Maintains current Pharmacy Technician registration with the Florida State Board of Pharmacy.
- Greater than one year up to four (4) years of experience as a pharmacy technician.
