Pharmacy Technician II
As a Pharmacy Technician, you'll play an important role in ensuring patients receive the medications they need safely, accurately, and on time. Working under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, you'll support medication preparation, compounding, distribution, inventory management, and quality assurance activities that are essential to patient care. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced healthcare environment, has strong attention to detail, and takes pride in contributing to the safe and effective delivery of medications. Every day, your work will help support the care teams and patients who rely on the pharmacy's expertise.
Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in preparing, packaging, labeling, and dispensing medications
- Support the compounding of both hazardous and non-hazardous pharmaceuticals in accordance with established procedures
- Help ensure medications are prepared accurately and safely
- Participate in medication distribution activities throughout the organization
- Maintain medication inventory, including stocking, monitoring, and replenishing supplies
- Support quality assurance and compliance processes to help maintain high standards of patient safety
- Follow all applicable federal and New York State pharmacy regulations and organizational policies
- Assist with maintaining accurate pharmacy records and documentation
- Help identify and address inventory or workflow issues to support efficient pharmacy operations
- Provide guidance and oversight for Pharmacy Assistant-related duties and responsibilities
Requirements
- National Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or ExCPT from National Healthcareer Association (NHA) required
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with NYS Office of the Professions, State Education Department
- High school diploma or High School Equivalency diploma
- Six (6) months of full-time pharmacy assistant or pharmacy technician experience
- Must maintain the required New York State registration and national certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) as a condition of continued employment
