About the role

Find your calling at Mercy! The Pharmacy Technician II assists pharmacists in preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications and is accountable to the supervising pharmacist who is legally responsible for the care and safety of the patients served by the pharmacy. The Pharmacy Tech II follows applicable standards and federal, state, and local laws and regulations for the care and safety of the customers and patients served.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists in preparing, compounding, and dispensing medications
• Follow applicable standards and federal, state, and local laws and regulations for the care and safety of customers and patients
• Remain accountable to the supervising pharmacist who is legally responsible for patient care and safety

Qualifications

Requirements vary by technician level:

• Tech I: High School Diploma or equivalence exam; actively registered with the Missouri Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician (or willing to submit application for registration by first day of work, including fingerprints for FBI background check); 1-year relevant pharmacy experience preferred but not required; successfully complete pharmacy department orientation.
• Tech II: High School Diploma or equivalence exam; actively registered with the Missouri Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician (or willing to submit application for registration by first day of work, including fingerprints for FBI background check); 1-year relevant pharmacy experience required (2 years preferred); Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
• Tech III: High School Diploma or equivalence exam; actively registered with the Missouri Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician (or willing to submit application for registration by first day of work, including fingerprints for FBI background check); 3-year relevant pharmacy experience required; Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
