Pharmacy Technician II
Job Summary
Provision of Care: Under the supervision and direction of the Clinical Pharmacist, prepares and dispenses prescribed medications, drugs and other pharmaceuticals in an accurate and timely manner. Ensures that all medications are appropriately bar-coded prior to dispensing; verifies barcode is recognized by the Meditech computerized order entry system. Performs and monitors compliance for quality control and performance improvement functions as assigned. Participates in rounding and proactively responds to patient needs to improve patient outcomes and positively impact overall patient experience. Automated Dispensing Cabinet (ADC) Super User/Trainer Performing daily ADC routines as assigned and provides oversight of these activities for appropriate inventory management. Prepares and monitors all work records needed for day at their designated times including the Discontinued, Transfers, and Discharges Lists of parenteral preparations and efficiently processes these reports before they are dispensed to the patient care areas. Assists Coordinator Pharmacy Inventory in ensuring that the department has the necessary supplies, equipment and stock needed for daily operations. Maintains proactive and effective communications with colleagues, and other members of the healthcare team.
Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues. Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patients care which results in patient harm.
Qualifications
- Pharmacy Technician License
- High School Graduate / GED
