About the role

The position is responsible for supporting the specialty pharmacy supervisor in their duties by providing technical assistance in accordance with department policy and Washington State Law. They maintain close working communication with pharmacists and pharmacy coordinators and managers regarding the various department programs. The technician helps facilitate departmental and hospital programs being carried out in accordance with regulatory agency requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the specialty pharmacy supervisor in technical assistance.
  • Maintains close working communication with pharmacists and pharmacy coordinators and managers.
  • Facilitates delivery of medications including ensuring specialty drugs are prepared and packaged appropriately for shipment.
  • Maintains basic knowledge of current medications.
  • Ensures medications and supplies are adequately restocked.
  • Answers insurance and billing questions and provides feedback to management regarding contracting opportunities and process improvements.
  • Completes additional responsibilities/projects when assigned by manager, coordinators, or pharmacists.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency (GED).
  • Must hold a Pharmacy Technician credential in the State of Washington and be in good standing as of hire date.
  • Minimum 2-3 Years Specialty/retail Pharmacy Technician Experience Required.
  • National certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), or equivalent preferred.
  • Certification required for Tech II classification (see addendum).

Flexible to work various hours to include evening, weekend, and holidays. Capable of walking and standing for extended periods throughout the work shift. Extensive data entry keyboarding into computer. Able to lift from floor to overhead levels and carry/push items weighing up to 40 pounds.

Pay

Min $31.31- Max $48.07/hrly. DOE
