Pharmacy Technician I PRN - Outpatient Pharmacy
Summary of Job Duties
The Pharmacy Technician I – PRN Extra Help (OPC Pharmacy) will assist and support the pharmacist in the day-to-day dispensing operation of patient care. The dispensing operation includes gathering the appropriate medication, operating the automated counting machine, working the filling queue within the dispensing software, compounding medications, operating the point-of-sale system, and other duties related to dispensing medication to the patient.
Duties will also include general phone or face-to-face customer service, maintaining appropriate and adequate stock in all pharmacy areas, receiving and shipping.
The Pharmacy Technician I will prioritize work based on immediate need and rapidly changing workload. The Pharmacy Technician I will work as a team member to efficiently, accurately perform day-to-day work along with any additional tasks or projects to help achieve departmental goals.
The Pharmacy Technician I will assist the Technician II and Technician III as it relates to day-to-day dispensing functions, tasks, and job duties to provide timely and efficient patient service.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED PLUS Arkansas Pharmacy Technician License
- PREFERRED Qualifications: One (1) year pharmacy technician experience relevant to hiring area (i.e. retail, hospital, etc.) One (1) year work experience
Responsibilities
- Assists pharmacists with patient outreach and answers phones regularly
- Communicates professionally and efficiently with patients and other staff
- Maintains appropriate records and paperwork, electronically and/or on paper
- Delivers medication to employees/patients in a timely and accurate manner
- Promotes a safe working environment and maintains clean work surfaces in all dispensing areas
- May perform other duties as assigned
