Pharmacy Technician I - part time - Aurora Medical Center Bay Area

Responsibilities

• Develops competence in dispensing and delivery of medications, including the department’s use of information systems, technology, and automation.
• Develops competence in preparing non-sterile products following USP, state, and federal recommendations.
• Develops competence in entering medication orders in the computer system and/or processing medication requests.
• Develops competence in managing phone calls from customers and team members (e.g., nurses, physicians, or patients), including accurate interpretation, timely resolution, or appropriate hand-off.
• Develops competence in pharmacy procedures and documentation to satisfy legal, regulatory, and department requirements.
• Complies with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards, including controlled substance procedures, USP procedures, and DNV requirements.

Requirements

• Licensure (IL only): State of Wisconsin Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Student registration.
• Certification (CPhT) issued by PTCB or ExCPT within two years of hire, or sooner if required by law. Must sit for the certification exam at least once within the first year of employment.
• Patient-facing teammates may require two certifications: Immunization and non-vaccine injectable, granted by the state of WI or an ACPE-approved program.
• High School Graduate.
• No prior experience required.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
• Frequent fine motor motion of hands and wrists (e.g., keyboard use, manipulating syringes).
• Lifts, carries, and/or pushes/pulls items (e.g., bags, boxes, carts) using proper technique.
• Frequently required to lift up to 35 lbs., lift and carry up to 35 lbs. at waist height, and push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
• Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, bend, kneel, climb, twist, crawl, and reach above shoulders.
• Must have functional speech, vision, touch, and hearing.
• May be exposed to chemical hazards, hazardous waste, blood, body fluids, and communicable diseases. Protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.
