The Pharmacy Technician position at Sanford Health's Bismarck Med Ctr is located in various work environments and duties may vary based on location or setting. This role involves preparing medications under the direction of a pharmacist, measuring, mixing, counting out, labeling, and recording amounts and dosages of medications according to prescription orders. Responsibilities also include maintaining proper storage and security conditions for drugs, ensuring equipment is functioning properly, assisting with billing functions, and supporting quality assurance and customer-focused services.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare medications under the direction of a pharmacist
  • Measure, mix, count out, label, and record amounts and dosages of medications according to prescription orders
  • Assist pharmacists in compounding, preparing, and dispensing medical prescriptions to the public
  • Absorb information from customers or patients regarding prescriptions
  • Maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs
  • Ensure that equipment is functioning properly and assist in resolving equipment maintenance and repair issues
  • Control inventory stock levels and timelines to ensure adequate supplies
  • Absorb billing-related functions
  • Assist with departmental quality assurance and other customer- or patient-focused services with oversight from supervisory staff
  • Absorb in a safe working environment and conditions that adhere to state laws and regulations
  • Use and proficiently operate multiple computer programs

Requirements

To qualify for this position, candidates must have a high school diploma or general education diploma (GED). Additionally, North Dakota Pharmacy Technicians must register with the ND Board of Pharmacy before starting employment. Applicants must enroll in Sanford-provided (or equivalent) ASHP accredited education and obtain national certification (PTCB or NHA) within the timelines set by the North Dakota Board of Pharmacy to receive the Pharmacy Technician licensure. Failure to meet these requirements can result in termination of employment. Technicians must ensure their state registration remains active.

$19.75 - $29.00 per hour

Schedule

Full time, 40 hours per week, rotating shifts

ND Certified Pharmacy Technicians - $5,000 bonus with 2-year work commitment, paid up front after 30 days
