About the Role
A pharmacy technician specialist supports pharmacy operations under a pharmacist's supervision, performing technical functions across various settings such as ambulatory, inpatient, research, or drug policy programs.
Responsibilities
- Perform technician duties including system support, medication reconciliation, narcotics management, and specialized roles approved by the Pharmacy Director.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines (Joint Commission, DEA, state boards).
- Manage inventory, especially controlled substances, and maintain purchasing records.
- Support pharmacy software systems like CentrakVestigo and Epic, and handle pharmacy materials securely.
- Deliver medications, assist with medication programs for uninsured patients, and develop related policies.
- Conduct patient medication interviews, verify medication lists, and communicate with healthcare providers.
- Lead site operations for large inpatient or outpatient facilities, mentor new staff, and participate in quality improvement projects.
- Provide excellent customer service, maintain a clean work environment, and support training of staff and interns.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of pharmacy technician experience.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician registered with the Board of Pharmacy.
- Knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and software systems.
Skills

- Ability to handle interruptions, work accurately, and maintain attention to detail.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors if needed.
- Proficiency in office equipment and computer use.
