Location: Fitzgerald High School • Work Year: 2026-2027 School Year • Salary: Per FEA Contract

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and Standard or Professional CTE Certificate in CIP code 51.0000 Health Sciences (Therapeutic Services) preferred.
  • If no Bachelor’s Degree or CTE certificate, ability to qualify for Annual Career Authorization which requires a minimum of 4,000 hours (within the last 10 years) of recent and relevant work experience in the Pharmacy/Health Industry.
  • Possess PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) CPhT (Certified Pharmacy Technician) Certification or equivalent.
  • Maintain program as a PTCB recognized education/training program.
  • Prepare, manage, and execute the CPhT Certification process for students.
  • Experience teaching Pharmacy Technician courses.
  • Ability to teach Exploration in Health Careers and Anatomy & Physiology including instruction in healthcare systems, medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, health information systems, therapeutic services, laboratory sciences, diagnostic services, and support services.
  • Must be able to integrate concepts related to healthcare law, ethics, confidentiality, patient privacy, and the appropriate handling of patient information.
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification required, or ability to obtain certification within a specific timeframe.
  • Must be capable of training, certifying and recertifying students in CPR, AED, and First Aid procedures.
  • Experience in high school classroom instruction.
  • Ability to manage time and work independently.
  • High level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with at-risk students.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and language barriers.
  • Enthusiastic, energetic, positive, and professional.
  • Experience with HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) and willingness to sponsor a HOSA chapter preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, assess, and deliver instruction.
  • Implement curriculum according to the Michigan Office of Career and Technical Education and district-adopted curriculum.
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  • Interpret and use data from ongoing assessments to inform instruction.
  • Participate in professional development and implement best practices.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for educational activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators to improve student achievement in the content areas.
  • Annually update the TRAC/CIP Self-Review in GEMS, meeting district, county, and state guidelines/timelines.
  • Hold two (minimum) program advisory committee meetings each year and provide required documentation.
