Job Summary
As a Pharmacy Technician with Rapides Regional Medical Center, you will assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing drugs, maintaining the drug inventory, and performing duties under pharmacist supervision.
Responsibilities
- Accurately fill unit dose medication orders from labels generated by pharmacist
- Prepare sterile products accurately under USP Guidelines
- Restock medication and IV dispensing areas
- Make rounds to each nursing unit as per policy and as directed by pharmacist
- Accurately identify and fill replacement medications on emergency crash carts/totes and floor stock
- Issue requisitioned drugs to other departments as per policy
- Participate in maintaining adequate inventory levels
- Obtain medication based on PAR levels and in conjunction with formulary initiatives
- Work with DOP or designee as needed in inventory management incentives
- Participate in maintaining department formulary initiatives
- Communicate with appropriate medical, nursing and allied health professional staff members with regard to non-formulary decisions
- Work with DOP or designees as needed in formulary clinical review process
- Complete assigned nursing unit inspections per policy
- Accurately fill medication carts
- Enter charges and credits into pharmacy computer system in a timely manner
- Answer telephone and direct calls to appropriate personnel
- Accurately load and refill Pyxis
- Perform other duties as assigned by DOP, ADOP, Clinical Manager, or charge pharmacist
Qualifications
- Current Pharmacy Tech license with the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy
- High School diploma/GED
