Pharmacy Technician

Job Summary

As a Pharmacy Technician with Rapides Regional Medical Center, you will assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing drugs, maintaining the drug inventory, and performing duties under pharmacist supervision.

Responsibilities

• Accurately fill unit dose medication orders from labels generated by pharmacist
• Prepare sterile products accurately under USP Guidelines
• Restock medication and IV dispensing areas
• Make rounds to each nursing unit as per policy and as directed by pharmacist
• Accurately identify and fill replacement medications on emergency crash carts/totes and floor stock
• Issue requisitioned drugs to other departments as per policy
• Participate in maintaining adequate inventory levels
• Obtain medication based on PAR levels and in conjunction with formulary initiatives
• Work with DOP or designee as needed in inventory management incentives
• Participate in maintaining department formulary initiatives
• Communicate with appropriate medical, nursing and allied health professional staff members with regard to non-formulary decisions
• Work with DOP or designees as needed in formulary clinical review process
• Complete assigned nursing unit inspections per policy
• Accurately fill medication carts
• Enter charges and credits into pharmacy computer system in a timely manner
• Answer telephone and direct calls to appropriate personnel
• Accurately load and refill Pyxis
• Perform other duties as assigned by DOP, ADOP, Clinical Manager, or charge pharmacist

Qualifications

• Current Pharmacy Tech license with the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy
• High School diploma/GED
