Pharmacy Technician
About the role
This role offers a nationally certified Pharmacy Technician the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, production-oriented pharmacy environment, supporting prescription processing, inventory management, and dispensing operations. The position follows a primarily Monday–Friday schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with intermittent mandatory overtime and participation in a Saturday rotation.
Responsibilities
- Process and fill prescription orders accurately and efficiently in preparation for pharmacist verification.
- Prepare medications and related items for dispensing, ensuring correct labeling, packaging, and documentation.
- Perform some packing and shipping of completed prescription orders to patients, following established procedures and quality standards.
- Maintain drug inventory levels, including stocking, organizing, and monitoring medications in the pharmacy and automated dispensing units.
- Operate and support automated dispensing units and related machinery as part of the medication preparation process.
- Replenish workstation supplies, including vials, caps, labels, and other materials needed for filling prescriptions.
- Aid with general pharmacy workflow in a production-type environment, meeting productivity and accuracy expectations.
- Follow all applicable pharmacy regulations, state board requirements, and internal policies related to medication handling and documentation.
- Engage in physical tasks such as lifting, walking, and working with machinery as required by the role.
- Collaborate with a team of pharmacy technicians and the supervisor to ensure efficient daily operations and timely completion of prescription orders.
- Participate in scheduled and intermittent overtime, including occasional Saturday shifts, to support workload demands.
Requirements
- Active national pharmacy technician certification (such as PTCB or PTCE).
- Current registration or license as a Pharmacy Technician with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy (NCBOP).
- Pharmacy Technician experience in any pharmacy setting, such as retail, health care, or other pharmacy environments.
- Ability to process and fill prescription orders with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience working with pharmacy-related systems, inventory, and dispensing workflows.
- Capability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and walking, as part of daily responsibilities.
- Willingness and ability to work a variable schedule with core hours of 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, plus some Saturdays and intermittent mandatory overtime.
Qualifications
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential or equivalent national certification.
- Experience in retail pharmacy, compounding, prior authorization, or broader health care environments.
- Pharmacy technician license and certificate beyond minimum registration requirements, where applicable.
- Comfort working in a production-type environment with defined productivity goals.
- Self-motivated approach with the ability to stay focused and efficient in a fast-paced setting.
- Interest in and comfort with working on pharmacy machinery and automated dispensing equipment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks within a structured workflow.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with team members and leadership.
Skills

Work Environment
The role is based in a pharmacy facility in Charlotte, North Carolina, within a team of approximately 21 Pharmacy Technicians led by a supervisor. The environment is fast-paced and production-oriented, focused on high-volume prescription processing and fulfillment. Team members work with automated dispensing units, pharmacy machinery, and standard pharmacy equipment to prepare, label, and package medications. The core schedule is Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with variable hours as needed, intermittent mandatory overtime, and participation in a Saturday rotation. The position involves being on your feet for portions of the shift, walking between workstations, and performing some lifting and handling of supplies and medication containers. The setting emphasizes accuracy, safety, teamwork, and adherence to all applicable pharmacy regulations and state board requirements. Dress is expected to be professional and appropriate for a pharmacy and production environment, suitable for working around machinery and handling medications.
