$18 - $21 an hour (based on experience)

Job Summary

This role is responsible for assisting pharmacist in filling prescriptions, security and accuracy of operations, and the delivery of medications to the patient.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide and ensure excellent customer service to all pharmacy customers.
  • Follow all federal, state, DEA, pharmacy board regulations, safety guidelines, as well as policies and procedures of the pharmacy and AbsoluteCARE.
  • Input prescriptions for new fills and refill accurately per the prescriber’s order: (patient, provider, NDC, dosing, refills, dates, signatures, directions, drug-drug interactions, drug-allergies interactions and DAW coding).
  • Fill prescriptions and deliver them to the pharmacist for review.
  • Check electronic system throughout the day for electronic prescriptions and processing promptly.
  • Insurance processing, collecting accurate information, deductibles, coinsurance and copayments.
  • Patient billing, AR management, delivery and mail orders, phone call reminders, and mailing statements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, demographics, insurance, and allergies.
  • Demonstrate a good working knowledge of the pharmacy management system and practice management system.
  • Utilize dual systems as part of the fill process for the purpose of reconciliation and adherence monitoring.
  • Review all medications within the patient profile at each point of contact or refill request as well as verification of appropriate follow-up appointments with the patient’s provider prior to refilling medications.
  • Absorb inventory issues or the need to order.
  • Notify the pharmacist of inventory issues or the need to order.
  • Communicate patient adherence concerns or psychosocial issues to the appropriate staff members: provider/nurse team, nurse educator, social worker, care manager as appropriate.
  • Assist with unpacking and distributing orders and updating inventory as needed.
  • Answer phones and/or returning phone calls to patients promptly.
  • Assist in the coordination and delivery of medications.
  • Place refill reminder calls and follow-up on said calls.
  • Distribute patient adherence information for distribution of healthy rewards.
  • POS management and ensure that all transactions are processed appropriately.
  • POS reporting and accuracy of daily deposit.
  • Ensure that returns are made monthly per the practice guidelines.
  • Maintain appropriate logs as designated.
  • Participating in annual or biannual inventory.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Certification or willingness to obtain certification within 1 year of hire.
  • Personal and professional passion to help improve healthcare delivery.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse population.
  • Team and customer service oriented.
  • Active CPR certification.

  • Constantly operates computer, keyboard, copy and fax machine, phone, and other general office equipment.
  • May share workspace with other technicians and staff.
  • Exposed to the diseases and infections of patients daily.
  • Physically demanding at times.
  • Repetitious Movements.
  • Occasionally move objects up to 20 lbs.

Working Conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses general office equipment. Often wear a special uniform, such as a lab coat or surgical scrubs, protective or safety attire, such as gloves and masks. Exposed to the diseases and infections of patients daily. May share workspace with other technicians and staff.
