About the role

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Sunnyvale is seeking a pharmacy technician to assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory and supplies, receiving, sorting, and stocking medications and supplies, and billing and crediting medications to patients. The facility is an acute‑care hospital serving the communities in and around Sunnyvale, Texas, located minutes east of Dallas.

Responsibilities

• Prepares IV mixtures according to established procedures.
• Picks up orders and medications for return from patient care areas.
• Checks areas of responsibility for outdated medications and adequate stock levels.
• Maintains a good working relationship with other departments.
• Fills patient medication drawers and unit‑dose medication orders.
• Fills automated dispensing machines and other unit supplies.
• Makes deliveries to patient care areas.
• Enters charges and credits.
• Unpacks and stocks orders.
• Pre‑packages bulk medication to unit‑dose or IV bulk products for syringes.
• Communicates effectively with coworkers to ensure understanding of customer needs and activities.
• Frequently offers assistance to others in need.
• Actively participates in team meetings and often offers suggestions on how to improve services.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; college education preferred.
• Experience: 1 year as a hospital pharmacy technician required; 2 years preferred.
• Certifications: CPhT and Texas registration required; IV certification preferred.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English; additional languages preferred.
• Basic computer knowledge required.
