About the role

The Prior Authorization Pharmacy Technician will handle prior authorization requests from healthcare providers and ensure that patients receive necessary medications by assisting in the approval process with insurance companies. This role involves collaborating with pharmacists, healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to navigate and expedite the prior authorization process, ensuring accurate and timely completion of all required documentation. Additionally, the position assists patients with financial coverage, including patient assistance programs.

Responsibilities

• Handle prior authorization requests from healthcare providers.
• Assist in the approval process with insurance companies to ensure patients receive prescribed medications.
• Collaborate with pharmacists, healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to expedite the prior authorization process.
• Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
• Assist patients with financial coverage, including patient assistance programs.

Requirements

• 1 year of experience in retail, specialty, hospital, or infusion pharmacy required.
• Experience working in a prior authorization or patient assistance role preferred.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) required (PTCB).
