About the role

The Pharmacy Technician II position at Children’s Wisconsin provides technical support to pharmacists in various departments including Central pharmacy, oncology clinic, intensive care units, operating room, TPN area, and the Employee Prescription Center. The role involves preparing, packaging, and delivering medications for both inpatients and outpatients.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, packages, and delivers medications for hospital patients in accordance with CHW policies and procedures.
  • Assists in the preparation, packaging, labeling, and delivery of medications in specialty areas such as Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Oncology Clinic, TPN production, operating room, and the Employee Prescription Center.
  • Utilizes aseptic technique for sterile product preparation and is knowledgeable of USP 797 guidelines.
  • Handles narcotics according to policy and procedures.
  • Communicates with patients, families, and other medical personnel appropriately while delivering medications.
  • Processes patient admissions, discharges, and transfers according to policies and procedures.
  • Stocks pharmaceuticals in inpatient, outpatient, and satellite areas, including ordering medications, checking for outdates, and cleaning the respective areas.
  • Performs inspections of medication rooms, clinics, and code carts as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • One year of pharmacy tech experience in an inpatient hospital setting required.
  • Current status as a Pharmacy Tech I required.

Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in mathematical calculations.
  • Good interpersonal and customer relations skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate a computer for various tasks.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Schedule

The schedule is 6:30-5:00pm or 11am--9:30pm (10 hour shifts), Monday- Friday, 3 days a week.
