Pharmacy Student

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• Assists in troubleshooting and maintenance of automated drug distribution system.
• Serves as a resource to nursing and pharmacy technicians regarding the use and control of drugs in the automated system.
• Assists pharmacist with filling orders and IV preparation and delivery.
• Checks stock on a regular basis to ensure that stock is maintained in accordance with FDA requirements.
• Participates in the training of pharmacy technicians and other nonprofessional personnel to assist in the drug distribution process and ensure timely delivery of medications.
• Under direct supervision advises patients, family, and health care professionals on use of various medications including dosage, side effects, and composition.
• Under direct supervision compounds, labels, and packages medications and pharmaceuticals.
• Under direct supervision ensures secure storage of narcotics and other controlled substances.
• Under direct supervision prepares clear and concise clinical briefs for use by nurses, medical staff, and pharmacy.
• Upon demonstration of competency in research and appropriate patient care consults with and advises medical staff personnel regarding utilization of drugs and pharmaceuticals.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimal Qualifications

• Education: Pharm.D. student actively enrolled in a program from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy.
• Experience: 6 months experience in a hospital setting.
• Licenses and Certifications: Certified by a national pharmacy technician certification program required and Registered Pharmacy Technician in the State of Maryland required or Holds a Pharmacy Student Intern license in the State of Maryland and PharmD student actively in a program from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy required.

Pay

USD $18.00 - USD $29.74 /Hr.
