About the role
The Pharmacy Resource Specialist coordinates pharmacy staff, students, and volunteers, ensuring inventory levels and managing automated dispensing systems. They also evaluate alternative supply sources and collaborate on training and operational challenges.
Responsibilities
- Dedicates time to Education, Inventory, or Systems operations within the Pharmacy department.
- Coordinates with internal personnel such as pharmacy employees, students, and volunteers.
- Coordinates with external personnel such as vendors, contractors, and employees outside pharmacy.
- Provides input and contributes to the development of processes in relevant sectors.
- Serves as a mentor for other technicians, helping them achieve necessary competency and experience.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff, and visitors by adhering to Memorial Hermann policies and standards.
- Promotes professional growth and development by meeting educational and competency requirements.
- Supports department-based goals contributing to the organization's success.
- Serves as a preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
- Models Memorial Hermann's service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized, and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
Requirements
- Education: Associate's degree in Business or related field required, two (2) additional years of experience in a specialized skillset may be substituted.
- Licenses/Certifications: Current Pharmacy Tech registration or Pharmacist intern registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy required. ACPE I.V Certification with completion of 40-hour course in I.V. admixture preferred.
- Experience: Five (5) years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred, with two (2) years experience in a specialized skillset preferred.
