As a Pharmacy Manager, you will lead and develop a pharmacy team that provides exceptional patient care by promoting best practices, leading through change, identifying performance opportunities, supporting novel program awareness, onboarding newly hired team members, and recognizing colleague success.
Responsibilities
- Live our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
- Oversee the pharmacy team during bench shifts, including strengthening pharmacy performance measures through effective coaching and consistent follow-up.
- Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following—and directing the pharmacy team to follow—pharmacy workflow procedures and utilizing safety guardrails.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, demonstrating compassionate care, collaborating with the patient’s healthcare team, and proactively resolving insurance or medication issues.
- Proactively offer and deliver immunizations to keep patients healthy; identify, engage, and support Pharmacy Technicians in learning to immunize.
- Manage pharmacy inventory by following—and coaching the team to follow—all inventory best practices, with a focus on protecting cold chain products.
- Conduct new Technician and Pharmacist onboarding, including training on CVS workflow, and ensure timely completion of required training or licensure.
- Ensure pharmacy operations comply with state Board of Pharmacy regulations; escalate issues to the Rx DL for support as needed.
- Partner with the Store Manager to maintain a healthy talent pipeline of cross-trained colleagues and ensure timely completion of required training.
- Oversee Staff Pharmacists and District Support Pharmacists (DPSs), manage performance through observation, feedback, and validation of results; deliver annual performance reviews.
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs; write or delegate the pharmacy schedule.
- Review business reporting for operational insights and develop action plans to close gaps in workflow, service, patient care, and compliance.
- Establish a culture of safety, empowerment, and inclusion; build psychological safety by encouraging feedback and taking action.
- Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills; seek opportunities to expand knowledge to better support patients.
- Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical services (e.g., COVID/Flu testing, Hormonal Contraception prescribing) where permissible.
- Understand and comply with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; adhere to CVS Health policies to support patient safety, privacy, and a safe workplace.
- Lead by example, delegate tasks, empower team members, and foster a collaborative work environment.
- Motivate and inspire the team to achieve high performance; apply problem-solving skills to address challenges.
- Adapt to changing circumstances and take ownership of responsibilities; coach, reinforce, encourage, and provide feedback to team members.
Requirements
- Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located.
- Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list.
- 1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacist.
Essential Functions

Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of the CVS Pharmacy Manager Emerging Leader (PM-EL) program.
- 3-5 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations to meet business needs.
Pay
The typical pay range for this role is $65.00 - $81.00 per hour. This range represents the base hourly rate for all positions in the job grade. The actual base salary offer will depend on factors such as experience, education, geography, and other relevant considerations. This position is also eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission, or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range.
