About the role

Thrifty White Pharmacy is seeking a Pharmacy Intern in Mandan, North Dakota. The position provides exposure in all aspects of the community pharmacy setting and allows interns to practice pharmacist duties as permitted by state board requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent professional service to customers to build loyalty and repeat business.
  • Help prepare hard copy insurance claims when necessary.
  • Obtain and document approval for refill prescriptions from physicians to ensure proper authorization is recorded on all prescriptions.
  • With experience, counsel patients on their medications. Work with the Pharmacist Preceptor to learn all functions of the Pharmacist’s job.
  • Provide and promote immunizations in store and with local employers, community centers, and government officials.
  • Answer patient questions in the OTC aisles and become familiar with products offered there.
  • Support full completion of Medication Therapy Management activities. Prepare information for Pharmacists to complete Comprehensive Medication reviews and assist in these meetings with patients.
  • Seek out and pursue opportunities to educate at senior centers, employers, doctor’s offices, public officials, and other community gatherings.
  • Make antibiotic callbacks after three days of patient being on antibiotics to check if the therapy is helping and address any patient questions or concerns.
  • Good attendance and punctuality are required to fulfill essential job functions.

Qualifications

Applicants must have or be able to receive a pharmacy intern license and not have any federal sanctions.
