Pharmacy Intern

Responsibilities

• Completion of a comprehensive training roadmap focusing on Key Learning Experiences (KLEs) that build aptitude in areas such as:
  • Following company SOPs at each workstation to help Pharmacists and Technicians manage and improve patient health.
  • Following pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
  • Contributing to positive patient experiences by demonstrating empathy and genuine care.
  • Taking telephonic prescriptions from the prescriber and clarifying prescriptions or facilitating medication changes.
  • Maintaining the highest level of self-awareness and providing in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
  • Completing basic inventory activities as permitted by law.
  • Supporting immunizations, including obtaining Technician Immunizer status and preparing and administering vaccines.
• Ensuring patient safety by complying with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical principles.
• Providing additional patient health care services as allowed by law and supported by required training and certification.

Required Qualifications

• Accepted into, or actively enrolled in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Possession, or being in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required.

Essential Functions

• Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
• Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time.
• Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs.
• Attention to detail and focus on confirming prescription information and label accuracy.
• Effective communication skills, including using and understanding verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues.
• Mathematical reasoning and problem-solving abilities.
• Physical demands, including mobility, reaching overhead, stretching, and lifting items.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
• Ability to become immunization certified once state regulations are met.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
