Responsibilities
- Completion of a comprehensive training roadmap focusing on Key Learning Experiences (KLEs) that build aptitude in areas such as:
- Following company SOPs at each workstation
- Pharmacy workflow procedures
- Providing empathetic and caring service
- Handling medical questions and counseling patients
- Telephonic prescription processing
- Self-awareness and in-the-moment coaching
- Basic inventory activities
- Assisting the pharmacy team to ensure smooth operations, prompt and accurate prescription fulfillment, and caring service
- Operating as part of the pharmacy team through consistent application of SOPs, best practices, and effective communication
- Learning to demonstrate empathy and genuine care in various interactions with patients
- Offering to counsel, field medical questions, and gather patient information under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist
- Taking telephonic prescriptions, clarifying prescriptions, facilitating medication changes, and reporting adverse reactions
- Maintaining a high-performing team, embracing a growth mindset, and being receptive to feedback
- Supporting additional patient health care services, including immunizations, point-of-care testing, and offsite clinic staffing, where allowable by law and supported by required training and certification
- Supporting immunizations by completing additional licensure and training requirements, educating patients, monitoring adverse reactions, and reviewing patient information
Requirements
- Accepted into, or actively enrolled in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy
- Possession, or being in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
- Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time, pivot quickly, and confirm prescription information and label accuracy
- Active listening, verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to use math to solve problems
- Problem resolution skills, including identifying and addressing challenging patient or colleague interactions
- Physical demands, including mobility, reaching overhead, stretching, lifting up to 20 lbs., and bending
Qualifications
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
- Ability to become immunization certified once state regulations are met
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
