Pharmacy Intern

Responsibilities

• Completion of a comprehensive training roadmap focusing on Key Learning Experiences (KLEs) that build aptitude in areas such as:
  • Following company SOPs at each workstation
  • Pharmacy workflow procedures
  • Providing empathetic and caring service
  • Handling telephonic prescriptions
  • Maintaining inventory activities
  • Supporting immunizations
• Assisting the pharmacy team to ensure smooth operations, prompt prescription fulfillment, and safe, accurate service
• Learning to operate as part of the pharmacy team through consistent application of SOPs, best practices, and effective communication
• Demonstrating empathy and genuine care in patient interactions, offering counseling, and managing patient problems
• Offering vaccinations and other services, and educating patients about the importance of vaccines
• Reporting adverse reactions and maintaining patient records
• Supporting immunizations by completing additional licensure and training, and administering vaccines

Required Qualifications

• Accepted into, or actively enrolled in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy
• Possession, or process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required

Essential Functions

• Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
• Ability to concentrate on tasks and pivot quickly to meet patient and business needs
• Attention to detail and focus on accuracy in confirming prescription information and labeling
• Effective communication skills, including active listening and the ability to convey detailed information verbally and in writing
• Mathematical reasoning and problem-solving abilities, particularly in calculating quantities and supplies
• Physical demands, including mobility, reaching overhead, stretching, and lifting up to 20 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
• Ability to become immunization certified once state regulations are met
• Experience working in home store and across the market in other locations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications
