Pharmacy Intern

Responsibilities

• Completion of a comprehensive training roadmap focusing on Key Learning Experiences (KLEs) that build aptitude in areas such as:
  • Following company SOPs at each workstation
  • Pharmacy workflow procedures
  • Providing empathetic and caring service
  • Handling telephonic prescriptions
  • Maintaining inventory activities
  • Supporting immunizations
• Assisting the pharmacy team to ensure smooth operations, prompt and accurate prescription fulfillment, and caring service.
• Learning to operate as part of the pharmacy team through consistent application of SOPs, best practices, and effective communication.
• Demonstrating empathy and genuine care in patient interactions, offering counseling, fielding medical questions, and soliciting patient information.
• Taking telephonic prescriptions, clarifying prescriptions, facilitating medication changes, and supporting immunizations.
• Maintaining self-awareness, providing in-the-moment coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members, and sharing best practices.
• Completing basic inventory activities, such as putting away medication deliveries and completing cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, waiting bin inventories, etc.
• Contributing to a high-performing team, embracing a growth mindset, and being receptive to feedback.
• Remaining flexible for both scheduling and business needs, contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic, and volunteering to travel to stores in the market to work shifts as needed.
• Understanding and complying with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles.
• Complying with CVS policies and procedures to ensure patient safety, comply with controlled substance dispensing and recordkeeping, and protect patient privacy and security.
• Delivering additional patient health care services, such as immunizations, point-of-care testing, and voluntarily staffing offsite clinics, where allowable by law and supported by required training and certification.

Qualifications

• Accepted into, or actively enrolled in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required.
