Pharmacy Intern

Responsibilities

• Completion of a comprehensive training roadmap focusing on Key Learning Experiences (KLEs) that build aptitude in areas such as:
  • Following company SOPs at each workstation
  • Pharmacy workflow procedures
  • Providing empathetic and caring patient experiences
  • Counseling and fielding medical questions
  • Taking telephonic prescriptions and clarifying prescriptions
  • Maintaining inventory activities
  • Supporting immunizations, including vaccine preparation and administration
• Assisting the pharmacy team to ensure smooth operations, prompt prescription fulfillment, and patient safety
• Operating as part of the pharmacy team through consistent application of SOPs, best practices, and effective communication
• Demonstrating empathy and genuine care in all customer and colleague interactions
• Remaining flexible for scheduling and business needs, contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic
• Supporting additional patient health care services, such as immunizations, point-of-care testing, and offsite clinic staffing

Requirements

• Accepted into, or actively enrolled in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy
• Possession or process of obtaining valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
• Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
• Attention and focus: Ability to concentrate on tasks and pivot quickly
• Customer service and team orientation: Actively looking for ways to help people and responding appropriately
• Communication skills: Using and understanding verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues
• Mathematical reasoning: Ability to use math to solve problems, such as determining the total number of tablets to dispense
• Problem resolution: Identifying and resolving challenging patient or colleague interactions
• Physical demands: Being mobile and remaining upright for extended periods, lifting up to 20 lbs, reaching overhead, stretching, and bending

Qualifications

• 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
• Ability to become immunization certified once state regulations are met
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
