Pharmacy Intern

Responsibilities

• Completion of a comprehensive training roadmap focusing on Key Learning Experiences (KLEs) that build aptitude in areas such as:
  • Following company SOPs at each workstation
  • Pharmacy workflow procedures
  • Providing empathetic and caring service
  • Counseling patients and fielding medical questions
  • Taking telephonic prescriptions and clarifying prescriptions
  • Maintaining inventory activities
  • Supporting immunizations, including vaccine preparation and administration
• Assisting the pharmacy team to ensure smooth operations, prompt and accurate prescription fulfillment, and caring service
• Operating as part of the pharmacy team through consistent application of SOPs, best practices, and effective communication
• Learning to demonstrate empathy and genuine care, and contributing to a safe and inclusive culture
• Complying with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical principles, and complying with CVS policies and procedures to ensure patient safety
• Delivering additional patient health care services, such as immunizations, point-of-care testing, and offsite clinic staffing, where allowable by law and supported by required training and certification

Required Qualifications

• Accepted into, or actively enrolled in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy
• Possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required

• Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
• Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
• Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs
• Attention to detail and accuracy in confirming prescription information and labeling
• Active listening and clear communication skills
• Mathematical reasoning and problem-solving abilities
• Physical demands including mobility, reaching overhead, stretching, and lifting up to 20 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
• Ability to become immunization certified once state regulations are met
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
