Pharmacy Intern

Responsibilities

• Completion of a comprehensive training roadmap focusing on Key Learning Experiences (KLEs) that build aptitude in areas such as:
  • Following company SOPs at each workstation
  • Pharmacy workflow procedures
  • Providing empathetic and caring service
  • Handling medical questions and counseling patients
  • Telephonic prescription processing
  • Self-awareness and in-the-moment coaching
  • Basic inventory activities
• Taking on increasing responsibility for the safety and effectiveness of operations in the pharmacy, including but not limited to:
• Managing and improving patient health
• Safely and accurately fulfilling prescriptions
• Supporting positive patient experiences
• Counseling and answering medical questions
• Clarifying prescriptions and facilitating medication changes
• Maintaining a high-performing team
• Complying with relevant laws and regulations
• Supporting additional patient health care services
• Preparing and administering vaccines
• Monitoring adverse reactions and reporting events
• Collecting and documenting patient information

Required Qualifications

• Accepted into, or actively enrolled in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy
• Possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required

Essential Functions

• Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
• Concentrate on tasks over a period of time
• Confirm prescription information and label accuracy
• Communicate effectively with patients and colleagues
• Use math to solve problems
• Resolve challenging patient or colleague interactions
• Perform physical tasks such as lifting, reaching, and bending

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
• Ability to become immunization certified
• Experience working in home store and across the market in other locations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
