Pharmacy Intern

Responsibilities

• Completion of a comprehensive training roadmap focusing on Key Learning Experiences (KLEs) that build aptitude in areas such as:
  • Following company SOPs at each workstation
  • Pharmacy workflow procedures
  • Providing empathetic and caring service
  • Handling medical questions and counseling patients
  • Telephonic prescription processing
  • Self-awareness and in-the-moment coaching
  • Basic inventory activities
• Assisting the pharmacy team to ensure smooth operations, prompt and accurate prescription fulfillment, and caring service
• Operating as part of the pharmacy team through consistent application of SOPs, best practices, and effective communication
• Learning to demonstrate empathy and genuine care in various customer interactions
• Offering to counsel, field medical questions, and gather patient information under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist
• Taking telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarifying prescriptions or facilitating medication changes, where allowed by state regulation
• Maintaining the highest level of self-awareness and providing in-the-moment coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members
• Completing basic inventory activities as permitted by law and directed by pharmacy leadership
• Contributing to a high-performing team, embracing a growth mindset, and being receptive to feedback
• Remaining flexible for both scheduling and business needs, while contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic
• Voluntarily traveling to stores in the market to work shifts as needed by the business
• Supporting immunizations, including completing additional licensure and training requirements, educating patients about the importance of vaccines, monitoring adverse reactions, and reviewing and collecting patient information

Qualifications

• Accepted into, or actively enrolled in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy
• Possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required
• 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
• Ability to become immunization certified once state regulations are met
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
