Walgreens Pharmacy and Customer Service roles combine prescription support with front-end sales to create a seamless, friendly experience for every customer.
Responsibilities
- Register sales on assigned cash register; provide courteous, fair, and efficient checkout service.
- Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy, including using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
- Engage customers by greeting them, offering assistance, resolving issues, and answering questions to ensure a positive experience.
- Model and share customer service best practices, including interpersonal habits (greeting, eye contact, courtesy) and Walgreens service traits (proactively offering help, identifying needs, servicing until satisfied).
- Recommend items for sale, including trade-up and companion items.
- Process customer purchases, voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges; assist customers in locating over-the-counter products.
- Maintain clean, well-merchandised counters and shelves; take inventory and keep records.
- Check in and price merchandise as directed; perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager.
- Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs; verify medicine accuracy and check for interactions.
- Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow; report prescription errors immediately and adhere to Quality Improvement Program policies.
- Review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct; strictly adhere to Good Faith Dispensing policies.
- Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist’s personal attention, including calls to physicians.
- Process manual claims for third-party prescription services efficiently; perform clerical duties as assigned.
- Support Pharmacy Department on inventory management, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
- Maintain knowledge of asset protection techniques; file claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.
- Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products (e.g., alcoholic beverages and tobacco).
- Construct and maintain displays, including promotional, seasonal, and sale merchandise; complete resets and revisions as directed.
- Assist with food item separation and product placement per policies (e.g., raw and frozen meats on bottom shelves); restock using first in, first out method.
- Provide customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photos, poster prints, and suggestive selling of promotional photo products.
- Assume web pick-up responsibilities, including monitoring, filling, and delivering orders to customers.
- Maintain clean, neat, and orderly store condition and appearance.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
Requirements
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications
- Six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Good math skills for accurate prescription filling, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
- Good computer skills.
- Knowledge of store inventory control.
- PTCB certification.
Training & Personal Development
- Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state-required certification/registration.
- Complete training and PPLs requested by Manager or assigned by corporate; acquire continuing education credits.
- Maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including the latest news and developments.
Pay
Salary Range: $16.92 - $19 per hour.
