Pharmacy Buyer

Job Summary

As the Pharmacy Buyer, you will manage the hospital pharmaceutical inventory process, including purchasing, stocking, and inventory optimization. This role will also assist in training staff on inventory handling and overseeing workflow in the pharmacy.

What You Will Do

• Make purchasing decisions while complying with budget limitations and achieving a maximum inventory turnover rate.
• Ensure timely communication for medication shortages or changes in medication stock availability.
• Assist with the maintenance of database and/or paperwork on medication recalls.
• Work with the pharmacy director to identify drug cost variances on a monthly basis and develop action plans.
• Run bid compliance checks and make recommendations for formulary changes as necessary to ensure maximum savings for contracts.
• Provide leadership and perform physical inventory counts during inventory and cycle counts.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• An associate or bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or supply chain logistics is preferred.
• 3+ years of inpatient pharmacy technician experience is required.
• 2 years of hospital, pharmacy buyer experience is preferred.
• A National Certification (CPhT) is required.
• An active registered pharmacy technician with the state Board of Pharmacy is required.
