Pharmacy Buyer
About the Role
The Pharmacy Department operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide excellent pharmaceutical care to Children’s of Alabama patients. Services include compounding of sterile and non-sterile medication, pharmacokinetics, medication order verification, OR preference bags, hazardous medication dispensing and compounding, clinical pharmacy services, unit-dosing of medication, automatic dispensing machines (Pyxis), investigational study pharmacy, medication delivery, and more.
The pharmacy operates out of a central pharmacy located in the Benjamin Russell building. Decentralized services are provided by clinical pharmacists on the units and several pharmacy satellites (main campus OR, Children’s South, hematology/oncology clinic, Investigational Pharmacy). The pharmacy utilizes Epic, Epic Willow Inventory, bar code scanning, vertical carousels, and kit management software.
Responsibilities
- Plan and manage all functions relating to obtaining pharmaceuticals and supplies necessary for the operation of the Pharmacy and associated departments of the hospital.
Requirements
- Valid Alabama Pharmacy Technician License
- Certified Pharmacy Technician Certificate (NHA or PTCB)
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of job experience as Staff Level with specialization in the field of Pharmacy
Schedule
7-on / 7-off on the Day Shift, Monday-Sunday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
