About the Role

The Pharmacy Buyer is responsible for purchasing pharmaceuticals for the three ambulatory infusion pharmacies, as well as day-to-day operations related to inventory. This includes pharmacy purchasing, maintaining stock of outpatient medications, procurement of non-formulary items, and other purchasing needs.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates all supply chain processes for purchasing and receiving pharmaceuticals for ambulatory infusion sites.
• Oversees monthly pharmacy medication expenses and tracks items with increased expenses.
• Utilizes split billing software to appropriately order medications on 340B and non-340B accounts.
• Provides monthly reports of contract compliance and tracking of drug savings.
• Maintains pharmacy purchasing systems.
• Assists with implementation of inventory database and maintains it.
• Manages patient-supplied medications within the ambulatory infusion pharmacies.
• Coordinates purchasing of formulary medications, including adjusting par levels and finding suitable alternatives during drug shortages.
• Coordinates procurement of non-formulary items in collaboration with the ambulatory infusion leadership team.
• Evaluates alternative medication dosage forms for cost-savings and coordinates interchange of new alternative medications as needed.
• Meets with vendor representatives as needed for contract and product information.
• Participates in Pyxis inventory optimization, including adjusting drug inventory levels versus one-time increases.
• Proactively manages stock outs related to human factors (e.g., not signing out inventory) versus optimizing inventory levels.
• Performs duties within the framework of RUMC/HDM, L.L.C. policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Two or more years of relevant experience required.
• CPHT and/or PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) and/or EXCPT certification required.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Flexible with work schedule and dependable attendance and job performance.
• Active participation in pharmacy professional or peer organizations preferred.

Pay

Pay Range: $27.47 – $38.81 per hour. Rush salaries are determined by factors including education, job-related experience, skills, internal equity, and industry-specific market data. Offers may vary depending on individual circumstances.
