The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) invites applications for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Pharmacology. We are seeking a dedicated, innovative individual committed to working collaboratively with our faculty to produce the next generation of osteopathic physicians. JOB SUMMARY

A Pharmacology Faculty member is required to serve as an educator in medically-oriented Pharmacology to meet the curricular needs of all learning pathways at LECOM Erie and contribute to the college’s mission through research and service. The successful candidate should be knowledgeable and qualified to teach Pharmacology at a medical college level.

Characteristic Job Tasks And Responsibilities

• Teach Pharmacology to preclinical medical students
• Create lectures, lecture notes, learning objectives, Power Point slides, exam questions, and syllabi
• Participate in curriculum development and evaluation
• Serve as Problem Based Learning (PBL) facilitator
• Provide examination questions for exams in area of expertise for all pathways
• Interview prospective candidates for the College of Medicine (COM)
• Provide counseling and guidance to assigned students
• Serve as advisor to at least one student club
• Serve on committees, as assigned
• Contribute at least one scholarly activity or research project yearly
• Prepare educational tools (A/V, demonstration models, lectures, lesson plans)
• Prepare evaluations tools to aid in the evaluation of students' work product
• Participate in faculty and professional development opportunities
• Attend "Team" meetings approved by COM that advance your profession
• Contribute to overall student success, including advising and student outcomes
• Contribute to the Mission of LECOM by assisting with Institutional fundraising and participating in the LECOM Scholarship Auction
• Participate in scholarly activity to enrich and broaden the student learning experience
• Represent LECOM by being actively involved in the community, including serving on boards, participating in community fundraisers, and outreach
• Accept other duties assigned/needed for the Institution's needs

Minimum Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

• Knowledge of student and patient's privacy (i.e. FERPA, HIPAA, etc.)
• Follow proper OSHA and safety guidelines
• Strong communications skills are essential as well as computer literacy (MS Office Suite [i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel]) and accurate data entry skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Must be accurate and attentive to detail
• Maintain an established work schedule as described in the professional contract
• Effective use of interpersonal and communications skills, including tact and diplomacy
• Effective use of organizational and planning skills, including attention to detail and follow-through
• Must be able to assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands
• Maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Be able to be flexible to accept other duties needed/assigned for the COM
• The ability to work cooperatively and collegially with others, consistent with a workplace of dignity and respect and EEO rules and regulations
• The ability to report to work as scheduled, ready to devote full attention and energy to the important work of LECOM
• The ability to accept work directives from managers and supervisors in a respectful and cooperative manner

Minimum Qualifications

• Education and experience equivalent to:
• Ph.D. in Pharmacology or Pharm.D.
• Preference will be given to candidates with previous teaching experience
