Pharmacist-Procurement Operations Full-time
Job Description
The Pharmacist, Procurement Operations reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Responsibilities
- Translates Supply Chain and Pharmacy Services objectives into project planning priorities, providing implementation/execution plan and timelines for multiple projects. Includes communications with vendors, internal stakeholders, physicians, leadership and third-party partners.
- Supports manager in the oversight and supervision of pharmaceutical purchasing staff and coordination of purchasing activities for all hospital and clinic pharmacies.
- Assist manager for each hospital/clinic to identify cost savings opportunities, program initiatives and best practices.
- Evaluate and audit of wholesaler pricing systems to monitor contract compliance.
- Audit GPO contract changes to ensure accurate and timely pricing updates.
- Afford to manage local and national drug shortages and implement tactics to maintain supplies.
- Collaborate with various team members determine alternatives to critical stock shortages and assist with determining and implementing therapeutic substitutions.
- Provide oversight while ensuring compliance with the purchasing aspects of the 340B program.
- Track identified and implemented cost savings and audits projected utilization and actual spend.
- Afford to develop policies and procedures to meet the objectives of Supply Chain and Pharmacy Services.
- Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives within the Supply Chain organization.
- Organize, prioritize, and plan workload within given time constraints.
- Ability to work independently and with frequent interruptions.
- Prepare and develop reports and communication materials to support Supply Chain and Pharmacy Services operations initiatives, as needed.
- Triage and solve procurement related problems demonstrating initiative and sound judgment.
- Provide ongoing training and support to pharmacy procurement staff and participate in interviewing, orientation and development of training programs.
- Partner with various levels of staffing and management for trainings, workgroups, committees, facilitations of meetings and presentations.
- Maintain proficiency and expertise in area(s) of practice through continuous professional development.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Pharm.D. degree from an accredited institution.
- Licensed as a pharmacist in Illinois.
- 2 to 4 years procurement experience.
- Understanding of financial analysis and quantitative/qualitative assessment data.
- Consulting or group presentation skills.
- Ability to organize workload and set priorities.
- Strong communication skills, negotiating skills a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate change and achieve savings goals.
