Pharmacist - Per Diem
About the role
The Pharmacist ensures accurate and timely distribution of medications and other pharmaceutical supplies according to established procedures and standards, in support of high quality patient care. The Pharmacist interprets, evaluates and verifies medication orders accurately assessing for drug-drug, drug-allergy and drug-disease state interactions. The Pharmacist provides drug information to clinicians and patients. It is the responsibility of the Pharmacist to maintain accurate and complete records on all patient profiles and controlled drug substances as required by law. The Pharmacist properly manages pharmaceutical inventories and maintains emergency drug supplies, automated dispensing machines and general medication security on the nursing units. This position directs and verifies the Pharmacy Technician’s work.
Responsibilities
- Interprets, evaluates and verifies medication orders accurately assessing for drug-drug, drug-allergy and drug-disease state interactions.
- Provides drug information to clinicians and patients.
- Maintains accurate and complete records on all patient profiles and controlled drug substances as required by law.
- Manages pharmaceutical inventories and maintains emergency drug supplies, automated dispensing machines and general medication security on the nursing units.
- Directs and verifies the Pharmacy Technician’s work.
- Supports organizational goals and values by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork, respect and cooperation.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree.
- Current New Jersey State license as a Registered Pharmacist required.
- ACLS Preferred, CPR Preferred for Hospital Pharmacist.
- Two years experience preferred.
- Two years hospital experience preferred for Hospital Pharmacist.
